Tess Eschebach
I am a PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Chicago working at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction, Usable Privacy, Media Studies. I am fortunate to be co-advised by a cross-disciplinary team including Marc Downie, Blase Ur, and Allison McDonald.
My research explores factors influencing user adoption and rejection of emerging technologies. Within this, I am particularly interested in user autonomy and refusal. I employ qualitative methods and build upon historical contexts from media theory to conduct interdisciplinary HCI research.
I previously earned bachelor’s degrees in Data Science (BSE) and Film, Television, and Media (BS) from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor.
